Art has always enjoyed making things by hand since early childhood. After he retired in 2018, he became interested in getting back to his creative side. While exploring Etsy, he stumbled upon two artists from England making different styles of hand-twisted wire tree sculptures, and he was intrigued. So he set out to make one for himself, and the obsession with making bigger and better trees has blossomed into an art career. Three years later, he is working on tree number 203.

The tree design often starts with the selection of the base rock.  The crystallization, shapes, and colors in his selected base trigger his emotional response.  He is moved to creating a sense of motion and color variation using his skill in hand-twisting the copper or aluminum wire into a one-of-a-kind design.

These affordable art pieces can be seen in homes and offices and are unique to any other art found locally. Art is one of a handful of artists in the US making twisted wire trees.

Several factors limit the ability to ship these sculptures, so they are only sold locally in select art shows and can be found at the ROX Arts Gallery, Aspen Grove Center, 7301 S Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, CO 80120.

Art is often found in the ROX Arts Gallery during one of his three monthly shifts working on a new tree. He also attends the 2nd Friday Art Show and Reception held in the gallery each month from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Contact him to see when he will be at the gallery.
